$1 Million Charity Goal
Announcing our main beneficiary for the April 10 & 11th, 2010 Irvine Lake Mud Run:
The promoters of the Irvine Lake Mud Run, Eco Fun Challenge, LLC have committed to raising $1 million to donate to groups that are making a real impact on environmental issues or in the local community. We will reach this goal through our Action Sports & Eco Fair and unique fundraising programs paid directly to organizations and our direct giving programs derived from event revenue.
Many events and corporations label themselves as “Eco” these days. The Irvine Lake Mud Run and Eco Fun Challenge, LLC will prove that we are more than a marketing gimmick to drive profits. We will prove that we are genuinely committed to promoting a greener world that places greater emphasis on making sure our planet is treated with respectful practices versus the current profit model that places more value on dollars in the pocket over regard for the future of our planet.
In the United States, as in other parts of the world, citizens are increasingly concerned about the threats to our future posed by climate change and our addiction to fossil fuels. In turn, many US citizens recognize the need to take responsibility for ourselves and our country in transforming the ways we produce and consume energy in our households, communities, regions and nation.
A good starting point to creating change is to adopt and endorse the Citizen's 5 Step Action Plan:
1. Inform and educate yourself about the impacts of your energy choices
2. Change your habits in consuming energy in your household, at work and the rest of your daily life.
3. Challenge and support local and state leaders to change the ways energy is produced and distributed in and
for your community.
4. Elect and support national leaders who will take responsibility in developing and implementing a National
Sustainable Energy Strategy.
5. Actively participate in a public national dialogue on our energy future.
